North Korea's possession of nuclear weapons is no secret. It has conducted six nuclear tests in the past two decades, with the most recent one in 2017. The country has also displayed nuclear weapons at various events like military parades. However, it was the first time North Korea showed its centrifuges.

Kim Jong-un emphasized the need to increase the number of centrifuges during his visit to the Nuclear Weapons Institute, stating it is essential for self-defense in line with the party's policy on building up nuclear forces.

International community strongly opposes North Korea's nuclear activities. The UN Security Council has imposed sanctions against the Kim dynasty and its subjects nine times since 2006 for attempting to build a nuclear bomb.

The photos serve as a signal to South Korea and the United States that North Korea is willing to escalate tensions during the US election campaign to gain a better negotiating position and deter future provocations.

This week, North Korea also released photos of a new type of mobile rocket launcher, believed to be its response to the American HIMARS. Kim Jong-un witnessed a test of the rocket launcher, which launched multiple projectiles.

North Korea also fired three or four ballistic missiles that traveled approximately 360 kilometers, landing in the East China Sea. The launches followed North Korea's complaint about joint military exercises between South Korea and the US earlier this year.

North Korea engaged in psychological warfare by releasing 'poop balloons', an unconventional tactic started in May this year. Balloons carrying waste and feces were released with the intent to cross the border to South Korea, but they failed to do so this week.

These developments are aimed at grabbing the attention of Kamala Harris and Donald Trump as North Korea confronts its deadline of November 5 to impact the US presidential race with a new nuclear test.
