German tourist (30) dies after shark attack in the Canary Islands

gran canaria - A 30-year-old German tourist has died after a shark attack in the Canary Islands. She lost her leg in an attack south of the island of Gran Canaria on Monday.
A few hours after the attack, she succumbed to her injuries on board of a rescue helicopter. The circumstances of the attack are unknown.
The coast guard received the distress call Monday afternoon from a sailboat sailing under British flag, which had departed from Gran Canaria on September 14. The boat was in international waters, 447 kilometers southwest of Gran Canaria, off the coast of Western Sahara.
