washington - Donald Trump, the American presidential candidate, announces receiving enhanced security following a foiled assassination attempt, while also mentioning a pleasant phone call from Kamala Harris.

Donald Trump, the American presidential candidate, announced on Tuesday that he will receive increased security after a second assassination attempt. Trump mentioned in a brief phone interview on Fox News that they have been requesting additional security personnel for a long time and now it seems that their request will be granted. The first assassination attempt on the former president took place in Butler in July, while a second attack was thwarted by a Secret Service agent on Sunday.

Congress is urgently working to ensure that Trump and his opponent Kamala Harris receive the same level of security measures as the commander-in-chief, following President Joe Biden's demand. Republicans expressed anger towards the bureaucratic response of authorities after the second assassination attempt. The protocol required a higher security level for the sitting president compared to the former president and vice president, which is now being equalized.

Trump resumed campaigning on Tuesday for the first time since the foiled assassination attempt. During a rally in Arkansas, he mentioned receiving a phone call from his opponent, Harris, which was met with boos from the audience. However, Trump described the call as 'very nice' and expressed appreciation for it.

A White House spokesperson stated that the vice president expressed gratitude for Trump's safety. Biden had already spoken with the Republican on Monday.
