Popular British radio DJ discovers he has cancer thanks to alert listeners

united kingdom - Jamie Theakston, a popular presenter on the British radio station Heart Radio, has been diagnosed with laryngeal cancer after his listeners noticed changes in his voice.

Jamie Theakston (53) revealed the diagnosis on air, saying, 'I have laryngeal cancer stage 1.' The radio host, well-known in the UK, decided to see a doctor after his fans pointed out the changes in his voice. He is taking a break to recover and plans to return to the radio in October. 'Until then, I've been advised to give my voice a rest,' he said.

Jamie, who co-hosts the morning show with Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden, has a positive prognosis and remains optimistic about his recovery. His colleagues, including Amanda, have expressed support and shared the news live on air.

Aside from his radio work, Jamie is also a TV presenter, producer, and actor. He began his career as a presenter on Top of the Pops from 1998 to 2003. He has been married to TV producer Sophie Siegle since 2007.
