brussels - Two of the nineteen MEPs of the British Conservative Party have joined another group in the European Parliament. Julie Girling and Richard Ashworth think they can better serve their voters as members of the European People's Party (EPP), the largest and most influential political group in parliament, including the CDA.

EPP group leader Manfred Weber says he is very happy with the arrival of the two. CDA MEP and EPP Vice President Esther de Lange also welcome them. The two remain members of the Conservative Party.

The remaining seventeen Tories remain with the European Conservatives and Reformers (ECR), of which the ChristenUnie / SGP is also a member.
