prague - A long and carefully prepared bill to ban smoking in the hospitality industry in the Czech Republic, it has not taken off in the parliament. Czech Prime Minister Sobotka fed up, because now there threaten penalties on subsidies from the European Union.

In all other EU countries apply full or partial smoking bans for some time. The Czechs are the exception. Prague visitors of restaurants and pubs can still light up a cigarette anywhere. The government since 1994 in the Central European country has been trying to impose smoking in catering to tires. However, a whole row of Health Ministers has foundered on the intransigence of parliament.

This time even supported the famous smoker of the country, President Milos Zeman, the ban. He called smoking once the best cure for Alzheimer's, because the smoker rather die of a heart or lung disease before he gets Alzheimer's. But the black humor Zeman did not help. A substantial majority in parliament voted against the draft, reports Die Welt.
