Spanish CEO bears after 16 years baton

- The Spanish telecommunications company Telefónica has a new CEO after sixteen years. César Alierta, who is seen as one of the most influential men in the Spanish business world, Tuesday announced his departure.
The septuagenarian Alierta's next CEO also supervisory president (chairman) of the telecommunications group. He retains a seat on the board of Telefónica. Under his leadership, the company expanded its scope by strong expansion in Europe and Latin America. In addition, more than 100 billion was spent on acquisitions.
