At least one person has died and seven others are missing in Czechia due to the flooding caused by storm Boris. Three individuals are among the missing after their car was swept away by a river in the northeastern Hruby Jesenik mountains.

The Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala describes the situation as a once-in-a-century high water level. He refers to previous devastating floods that hit the country approximately once every hundred years.

Rivers, especially in the Hruby Jesenik region, have turned into massive water streams due to weekend rains, causing casualties and significant damage. Hundreds of people had to be rescued in Jesenik using boats and helicopters. The central square of the town now resembles a lake with floating cars. The mayor referred to it as an 'apocalypse.' Over 12,000 people have been evacuated in Czechia.

Central Europe is grappling with rapidly rising water levels in streams and rivers, leading to numerous floods. Fatalities have been reported in countries like Austria, Poland, Romania, and Czechia due to the severe weather conditions, with the highest casualties recorded in Romania.

The water level in the Danube River is also rising. Precautionary measures are being taken in the capitals along the river, Bratislava (Slovakia) and Budapest (Hungary), to mitigate the risks of flooding. The region is bracing itself for more rainfall on Monday. Besides floods, landslides are causing extensive damage in regions spanning from southern Poland and Czechia to eastern Romania.
