washington - Democratic Senator Bob Casey concedes defeat to Republican Dave McCormick in a closely contested race for an unclaimed seat in the US Senate from Pennsylvania.

Democratic Senator of Pennsylvania Bob Casey conceded defeat to Republican Dave McCormick on Thursday, two weeks after the US elections. The difference between Casey and his Republican opponent was less than half a percent after the vote count, triggering a recount under Pennsylvania's election law.

The 64-year-old Casey has represented Pennsylvania in the Senate since 2006.
