Man dies after drug test

rennes - A subject who participated in the testing of an investigational drug, is deceased in the university hospital in the French city of Rennes. The victim was on Friday declared clinically dead after it was discovered that he was brain dead. This was reported by the British newspaper Sunday Telegraph.

         Five other subjects are in a bad way, but according to a hospital spokesman their condition is stable. The hospital believes that for three people the consequences will be irreversible. There are no means to counter the effects of the use of the experimental drug.
A total of ninety people aged 18 to 55 years participated in the test. Three days after taking the drug developed in Portugal, the first subject was ill. The new drug to counteract, inter alia, pain and other inconveniences of the Parkinson's disease. The test was stopped at 11 January.
The five people who are still in the hospital, range in age from 28 to 49 years. They are among those who received most of the drug.
