Liverpool FC and adidas have launched the club’s new third kit for the 2025-26 season, a sea-green design drawing on the club’s kits from the 1990s and early 2000s, complete with the return of the adidas Trefoil logo and a tribute to the 97 supporters who died in the Hillsborough disaster.
Liverpool FC and adidas have unveiled the club’s new third kit for the 2025-26 season, blending heritage styling with modern performance features in a nod to one of the most fondly remembered eras in the club’s history. The jersey’s striking sea-green colourway draws inspiration from classic Liverpool and adidas designs of the 1990s and early 2000s, a period closely associated with some of the club’s most recognisable away and third strips. The kit is available now through Liverpool’s online store, the LFC Store app and club shops, which supporters can locate at store.liverpoolfc.com/stores.
A design rooted in the 1990s
The new jersey marks the return of the adidas Originals Trefoil to a Liverpool kit for the first time in almost 35 years, forming part of the brand’s wider Originals collection celebrating classic football designs from past decades. The design also revives the club’s crest as worn between 1987 and 1992, pairing it with the modern sea-green aesthetic to link the club’s past with its present-day identity. The shirt is completed by pristine white shorts featuring sea-green detailing and matching sea-green socks. The kit is available in three versions: short-sleeve, long-sleeve, and a newly introduced cropped version.
A tribute woven into the design
On the reverse of the jersey, positioned at the nape of the neck, sits the 97 emblem encased within the Eternal Flames. The design commemorates the 97 Liverpool supporters who lost their lives as a result of the Hillsborough disaster, with the Eternal Flames remaining a permanent and significant feature across Liverpool’s kits.
Built with performance in mind
Alongside its heritage styling, the shirt makes use of adidas’ AEROREADY fabric technology, designed to wick moisture away from the body to help keep players cool and dry during matches. Fans can choose between the supporter replica version and an authentic player version, the latter featuring lighter materials and a slimmer, performance-focused fit intended to match what players wear on the pitch. Supporters can also personalise their shirts with official Premier League, UEFA Champions League or Women’s Super League sleeve badges, depending on the competition in which the shirt would be worn.
A new chapter with adidas
The launch marks the third time adidas has supplied Liverpool’s kits, following earlier spells between 1985 and 1996 and again from 2006 to 2012. The current partnership, which began ahead of the 2025-26 season, reunites one of football’s most successful club-brand relationships following several years in which Liverpool’s kits were supplied by Nike. The third kit’s launch comes on the back of a record-breaking start to the new ten-year partnership, with more home and away kits sold in the first month after release than at any previous point in the club’s history. Orders have come in from more than 150 countries, and around 70 per cent of total purchases to date have been made through the club’s e-commerce platform.
A campaign shot in Liverpool
The kit’s launch video is led by Liverpool actor and lifelong Reds supporter James Nelson-Joyce, alongside first-team players Hugo Ekitike, Andy Robertson, Fuka Nagano and Trey Nyoni, as well as former Liverpool player Steve McManaman. The campaign was filmed in Liverpool using local creative talent both in front of and behind the camera, reflecting the club’s continued strategy of showcasing the city’s culture alongside its footballing heritage. The video also features familiar local figures, including Dave McCabe of the band The Zutons, DJ Lauren Lo Sung, and influencers Yombo and The Scouse Ghetto Gourmet.
Beyond the match kit
The wider collection extends well beyond the third shirt itself, including a striking all-black goalkeeper kit, an extensive training range, casual culture-wear pieces, hats and accessories, and a new LFC-branded Gazelle trainer. The expansion reflects the club’s broader push into lifestyle apparel and footwear, mirroring the growing popularity of football fashion away from the pitch.
When fans can see it in action
Liverpool are offering a 10 per cent discount on the third kit for All Red Members. On the pitch, the men’s first-team squad will wear the new strip in selected Premier League, domestic cup and European away fixtures where it is required to avoid a colour clash with the opposition, with its debut set for the away trip to Burnley on Sunday. Liverpool FC Women will wear the kit for the first time when they face Sheffield United on 22 November.
