House with Sea View Auctioned for 12 Euros, but There's a Catch

isle of wight, england - An intriguing offer on a auction site for a house with sea view and two bedrooms being auctioned for less than 12 euros, but there are several factors to consider.

An semi-detached house with two bedrooms and sea view is being auctioned on the site First for Auctions for less than twelve euros. However, there are a few catches. The house is located on the edge of a cliff where a major landslide occurred last December due to heavy rains in 2023, causing the cliff to move closer to the houses. Twenty houses on Leeson Road in the town of Ventnor were evacuated as a result, and most residents have since returned.

One of these houses is now being auctioned off, as reported by the British broadcaster BBC. The starting bid for the semi-detached house with two bedrooms - which reportedly needs some TLC - is just ten pounds, or less than twelve euros.

The conditions include the buyer paying in cash and being willing to purchase the property without viewing it in person. The auctioneers themselves have not inspected the property for sale. To reassure potential buyers, the auction house states that the house only suffered 'minor structural damage' after the landslide, in line with local authorities' statements.

Another catch: the house on Leeson Road has limited access. The road was closed for seven months following the landslide, and currently only one lane is open for safety reasons. The local government is working to fully reopen the road once it is deemed safe.
