The Opava River in the Czech Republic, a tributary of the Oder, has also burst its banks, requiring the evacuation of hundreds of people in the Czech-Polish border region. Moldova and Romania have also been hit by the severe weather, with multiple fatalities reported.
Several individuals are also missing, including those involved in a car that plunged into a raging torrent in the Jeseniky Mountains in the Czech Republic. One occupant was rescued, but three others remain unaccounted for. In the village of Jankovice, a 54-year-old man fell into a flooded stream during cleanup efforts and did not resurface.
