Woman (70) Receives Response to Job Application After Fifty Years: 'I Finally Have Closure'
gedney hill - A woman from the English village of Gedney Hill applied for a stunt rider job in 1976, but never received a reply. Nearly fifty years later, she finally got a response.
A 70-year-old Tizi Hodson recently opened her mail and came across a familiar-looking letter. It was a job application she had sent 48 years ago, for a stunt riding position. 'Late delivery by the Staines post office. Stuck in a drawer. Only about fifty years late,' read a note on a loose piece of paper inside the envelope.
'I always wondered why I never heard back from them,' Hodson told the BBC. 'Now I know why.' The fact that the letter reached her is quite remarkable. 'I've moved about fifty times in the past decades and even emigrated four or five times. It's really a mystery.'
Hodson is relieved to know that she was not consciously rejected for the position. 'I finally have closure. I used to check for mail every day after sending the application, but I never found anything. I was very disappointed because I really wanted to be a stunt rider.' Nevertheless, Hodson can look back on her working life with satisfaction. She had a successful career as an aerobatic pilot and flight instructor.
