The South Korean opposition has submitted a motion to remove acting president Han Duck-soo. The actual vote on the impeachment motion will take place on Friday, according to lawmaker Park Sung-joon. Initially, it seemed that the Democratic Party (DP) wanted to file the impeachment motion on Tuesday. However, the party ultimately decided to wait until Thursday to see if Han would meet her demands. DP leader Park Chan-dae warned on Tuesday that Thursday would be "the last chance."
On Thursday, Han stated that he would continue to refuse to appoint the three judges as long as the various political parties disagree on the intended appointments.
Han's predecessor Yoon was removed from office by the parliament on December 14 after declaring a military state of emergency in the country eleven days earlier following a political conflict with the opposition.
