paris - Two out of the 50 defendants in the rape case of Gisèle Pelicot have confessed to their crime, expressing regret and seeking forgiveness. The majority of the defendants are claiming that they were unaware of the victim being drugged, presenting their defense in court.

Isabelle Crépin-Dehaene, representing two of the accused, stated that many of the defendants have admitted to the sexual acts but claim they were 'manipulated' by Dominique Pelicot on a controversial website. The prosecution, however, argues that the defendants were fully aware of the victim's state of unconsciousness.

During the trial, it was revealed that the defendants were given strict protocols by Dominique Pelicot, indicating that they were conscious of the victim's condition. The investigation director, who reviewed all videos found on Pelicot's hard drive, emphasized that the defendants could clearly see the victim was unconscious.

While 35 defendants maintain that the victim consented, two men confessed to the crimes during their testimonies. One of them, Lionel R., apologized to the 71-year-old victim, expressing remorse for his actions. Another defendant, Jacques C., admitted to the rape and acknowledged his failure to seek the victim's consent.

Lionel R. described his encounter with the victim in detail, recounting the events leading up to the assault. He also shared personal struggles and past traumas that may have influenced his behavior. Jacques C., a retired man, admitted to being aware of the victim's condition during the assault and expressed regret for his actions.
