Presidential Elections in South Korea
South Korea is set to hold presidential elections on June 3, approved by the government. Former President Yoon declared a state of emergency in December, attempting to dissolve the parliament, which failed. Yoon, from the People Power Party (PPP), hopes for a PPP victory in the upcoming elections.
Yoon, previously the head of the South Korean Public Prosecutor's Office, announced his candidacy for the presidency in mid-2021. He joined the PPP and narrowly won the 2022 presidential elections. However, the PPP failed to secure a parliamentary majority.
