Rare Picasso Artwork Discovered at Antwerp Thrift Store
Staff at Antwerp's thrift store made another remarkable find, spotting a white earthenware bowl with the stamp 'Empreinte Originale de Picasso' among regular donations. The valuable art piece was auctioned for €12,600 on the store's auction website.
Keen-Eyed Staff Make the Discovery
The bowl, featuring a relief design of a bullfight, was crafted on March 11, 1953, in a limited edition of two hundred pieces. It bears the stamps 'Madoura Plein Feu' and 'Empreinte Originale de Picasso' at the back.
Auction and Beneficiary
Sold on April 6 for €12,600, the lucky buyer, Johan, plans to eventually donate the piece to a charity supporting youth with autism. The proceeds will be invested in social employment initiatives by Antwerp's thrift store, supporting sustainable reuse and social impact.
