Over 50 million of Greek migrant reception

brussels - The European Commission is 56 million euros to improve the reception of migrants in Greece. Part of the money is intended for interpreters and ICT equipment to handle the registration and asylum applications faster.

Aid organizations and MEPs were recently reported poor conditions in Greek asylum centers. In addition, the processing of asylum applications appear to run slowly.

A large part of the money will be distributed through UN agencies for refugees (UNHCR) and Migration (IOM). The Greeks also receive an amount to gain control of their external borders in order.

Brussels has since early last year 237 million from emergency funds spent on Greece. That comes on top of the 509 million from regular funds for the period 2014-2020.
