More and More American Schools Ban Crocs
united states - A growing number of American schools are banning Crocs due to safety concerns and risk of accidents.
A growing number of American schools are banning Crocs due to safety concerns, according to a report by Bloomberg. The bulky shoes are causing students to trip and fall more frequently, leading to the decision by dozens of schools across twelve U.S. states.
In addition to the increased risk of falling, teachers have complained that Crocs are often used as projectiles to throw at each other. One school in Atlanta has implemented a rule that all shoes must be 'safe', explicitly stating 'No Crocs' in the regulations.
Reports have surfaced of incidents involving Crocs, such as a child in New York getting injured when her slipper got stuck in an elevator, resulting in eight stitches in her shin. In Australia, warnings have been issued against wearing Crocs on stairs, especially escalators, with several airports, train stations, and malls imposing bans. A four-year-old girl nearly lost her foot at Sydney Airport after getting trapped.
The manufacturer of Crocs denies any wrongdoing, stating that they have no data indicating Crocs are more dangerous than other shoes. Despite the bans, sales have continued to soar, especially after Post Malone was photographed wearing them during the pandemic. He even had his own line of Crocs.
