22 Dead After Bus and Truck Collision in Southeast Brazil
teolfilo otoni - At least 22 people have died in a bus accident in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, according to local firefighters.
An accident occurred around 4:00 am on a major highway near the city of Teolfilo Otoni in southeast Brazil. The bus, carrying 45 passengers, experienced a tire blowout, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The bus collided head-on with a truck loaded with roof tiles.
Thirteen passengers were rescued by the firefighters. At least 22 others did not survive the accident. Firefighter Alonso Vieira Junior mentioned that more bodies need to be extracted from the wreckage, but a crane is required to reach the part of the bus where the remaining victims are located.
A passenger car was also involved in the accident. The three occupants were trapped, but were freed by the firefighters and survived the crash.
