herzogenaurach - Sporting goods manufacturer Adidas is going to make a new shoe with a 3D printed sole mass. The shoe, presented the Future Craft 4D is Friday.

Adidas hopes to sell 5,000 pairs this year and next year 100 000, reports Reuters. Competitors Nike, Under Armor and New Balance experiment according to the news agency also with 3D printing, but so far they only put in the art prototypes, custom-made soles for sponsored athletes and a handful of expensive shoes. That would be because the traditional 3D printers are slower and more expensive, and often provide a less good shoe.

But for the Future Craft 4D is a technique used Carbon startup called Digital Light Synthesis, which have many of the problems of the past. '' With Digital Light Synthesis we ignore constraints of the past and begin a new era for design and production, '' said Eric Liedtke Adidas.
