The suspect, Roland Drexler, a hunter believed to possess multiple firearms, had been on the run. A manhunt for the suspect has been ongoing since Monday.
Drexler allegedly chased his first victim, the mayor of Kirchberg, with his car and opened fire when they both got out. He then reportedly broke into the home of his second victim, a retired policeman, and shot him. Following the incidents, he fled. Around fifty people had been under police protection due to safety concerns. Drexler's motive is believed to be related to a hunting-related conflict.
