Israeli Commandos Fight Hezbollah in Ground Operation in Lebanon

tel aviv - Israeli commandos are engaged in intense battles with Hezbollah in a ground operation in southern Lebanon. Details of the operation are slowly emerging, revealing the challenges faced by the commandos.

Israeli elite unit Egoz faced fierce resistance from Hezbollah fighters as they entered a border village this week. Commandos came under heavy fire from terrorists hiding in a house and were targeted with anti-tank grenades and mortar fire outside.

The air support was hampered by thick mist, but managed to target roads and buildings, including a mosque where a group of terrorists were hiding. Reportedly, around thirty Hezbollah fighters were killed.

Rescue operations to extract the stranded commandos were hindered by bad weather. Helicopters managed to land in hostile territory to evacuate the casualties: six dead and dozens wounded, some critically. Two scouts from the Givati Brigade were killed by anti-tank grenades in another location.

Israeli troops are facing fierce resistance as they advance on Lebanese soil. Following successful operations, soldiers are now engaged in dangerous ground combat. A reporter from Fox News accompanied Israeli commandos into Lebanon and uncovered Iranian weapons at a Hezbollah position near the border.

Israeli forces have been operating in Lebanon since the night of Monday to Tuesday, with two army divisions and reserves deployed to the border area. Approximately 50 Lebanese villages near the border have been evacuated upon Israel's warning.

Reports indicate Israeli soldiers have advanced a few hundred meters, and in some areas, even a few kilometers into Lebanese territory. The objective is to dismantle Hezbollah's military infrastructure, including tunnels, bunkers, and weapon storage facilities, to ensure the safety of northern Israeli civilians who were evacuated over the past year.

The operation is primarily concentrated in the far north of Israel, adjoining Lebanon from three sides. Israel aims to prevent Hezbollah incursions and potential hostage situations in border towns.

Special forces have been operating in Lebanon for months in preparation for the current offensive, thwarting a planned invasion by Hezbollah's Radwan unit and Palestinian Islamic Jihad members. Prior secret commando missions successfully neutralized a thousand Hezbollah positions with minimal resistance.

During one of these operations, a large weapons cache was discovered in a house, along with a 150-meter tunnel that was later destroyed in an airstrike.
