jerusalem - Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, along with several other high-ranking figures, has been killed by the Israeli military since October 7th.

A special unit of the domestic security service had been searching for Sinwar for nearly a year. He was found almost by chance during an armed confrontation between Israeli troops and a group of terrorists hiding in a building. His capture or death was crucial for Israel to claim victory in Gaza.

The 61-year-old terrorist had been leading Hamas since October 7th, but became the official leader after the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Iran. His communication with the organization was done through couriers, as he avoided using phones or computers.

Despite being constantly on the run, Sinwar was still pulling all the strings. The Israeli army had come close to capturing him before but he managed to evade them. Hamas continues to face significant losses with the killings of key members in recent months.
