Harris criticizes Trump in chaotic interview with Fox News: 'We should all be concerned'
washington - US presidential candidate Kamala Harris launched a scathing attack on her rival Donald Trump in an interview with Fox News. She called the Republican a danger to the country and unstable.
Harris spoke for nearly half an hour in the lion's den on Wednesday night. Fox News is known as a right-wing channel that supports Trump. According to interviewer Bret Baier, her campaign staff delayed the conversation, resulting in less available time.
The interview was often messy, with the Democrat and the interviewer frequently talking over each other. Harris took the opportunity to warn the Republican's supporters about his unsuitability and danger, stating, 'He should never be president again.'
She pointed to Trump's recent remarks at a campaign rally, where he spoke about 'the enemy within', suggesting the need to deploy the National Guard. Although it was unclear if Trump was referring to far-left Antifa rioters, Democrats argue that he intends to arrest political opponents.
Harris also mentioned former Trump allies such as ex-Vice President Mike Pence, who have turned against him, saying, 'He is not stable, and we should all be concerned.'
The harsh personal attack comes amid disappointing poll numbers for the Democrat, with Harris's lead seemingly evaporating. Voters are worried about inflation and migration, issues for which Harris bears some responsibility as the Vice President over the past four years. When questioned, Harris did not fare well, deflecting to Trump's presidential bid during that time.
Moreover, the interview was mostly a series of evasion and vague responses to direct questions regarding failed migration policies, expensive groceries, and the initially softer stance on Iran. When asked why people trust Trump more on the economy, Harris resorted to reciting her campaign slogans simultaneously, talking about 'turning the page' and 'a new way forward.'
Harris faced difficulty addressing Joe Biden's presidency and his mental state. Instead of answering, she again criticized Trump's mental fitness for office. She also distanced herself from her political boss, stating, 'My presidency will not be a continuation of Joe Biden's. I represent a new generation.'
