Body of French girl Lina (15) found in a river, over a year after her disappearance
nevers - The body of Lina (15), the French teenager who had been missing for over a year, was discovered this week submerged in a river, according to French media reports.
The body of the teenager was found on Wednesday in Nevers, as announced by the public prosecutor's office in Strasbourg. Lina went missing on September 23, 2023, while walking to the train station of Saint-Blaise-la-Roche in Bas-Rhin, a familiar two-kilometer route for her. She was on her way to Strasbourg to meet her 19-year-old boyfriend.
After her boyfriend did not see Lina alight from the train at the agreed-upon time, he contacted her mother, who then notified the police. Numerous extensive search operations were conducted over the past year. Despite several suspects being apprehended, they were released due to lack of incriminating evidence.
In the summer, it was revealed that the girl's DNA was found in a stolen vehicle not far from where Lina was last seen. The car's owner, Samuel Gonin, became the prime suspect, but he eluded capture and committed suicide on July 10.
The police have confirmed the identity of the girl, and further investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of her death.
