XL Bully Ban Raises Concerns for UK Police
British police chiefs are raising alarms over the financial strain caused by the prohibition of XL Bully dogs. The XL Bully, described as the largest American Bully in the UK, has been banned due to a series of biting incidents, making ownership illegal without permission. Alongside XL Bully, other breeds are also on the banned list in the country.
Authorities warn that enforcement costs are escalating, urging the government for increased support. Estimated expenses could reach 25 million pounds (almost 30 million euros) between February last year and April 2025. According to Sky News, over 4500 'prohibited' dogs were seized between February and September last year, with 848 of them euthanized. Maintaining an XL Bully in a kennel can cost around 1000 pounds per month.
