stockholm - Sweden and Finland warn their citizens about the possibility of war on their territories and provide guidance on how to prepare for different crises.

As the conflict between Russia and Ukraine escalates, Sweden and Finland are raising awareness among their citizens through online and door-to-door campaigns about the potential threat of war. The Swedish government is distributing a brochure titled 'When the Crisis Is Near' to every household, advising them on how to prepare for a possible war scenario. This is the third edition of the brochure in over fifty years, reflecting the deteriorating security situation in the region. The brochure also includes instructions on handling other crisis situations such as terrorism, cyberattacks, and disinformation campaigns.

In response to the changing global security landscape, Sweden updated the brochure to address modern-day threats and encourage solidarity among its residents. The document emphasizes the importance of every individual contributing to the defense of the country in case of war. It provides checklists for essential survival items and guidance on actions to take during a crisis, including a nuclear attack.

The brochure, available in eleven languages, offers new advice on coping with fear and anxiety, particularly focusing on the well-being of adults and children. In light of Sweden's recent decision to join NATO after centuries of neutrality, the brochure highlights the collective defense principle of the alliance and underscores the need for resilience in the face of potential conflicts.

Meanwhile, Finland, another NATO member, is promoting crisis preparedness through an online guide to help its citizens navigate emergency situations. Recent challenges, such as disruptive activities originating from Russia and incidents like the sabotage of undersea cables, have prompted both Sweden and Finland to enhance their national security measures and inform the public about potential threats.
