According to Brazilian media reports based on police information, the Dutch citizen, known as Peter and around sixty years old, was eventually released after his daughter paid the requested ransom. The ransom amount was reported to be 150,000 real, approximately 25,000 euros. The kidnapping took place in the Barra de Pojuca neighborhood, part of the city of Camaçari in the Bahia state on the eastern coast of Brazil.
The kidnappers contacted family members on Monday morning around 5:00 am and demanded ransom. In their messages, the criminals requested bank transfers and used a commanding tone, making it clear that they were not willing to wait long for the money.
