Body of missing person found in Valencia region month and a half after floods
barcelona - One and a half months after the floods in the Valencia region, the body of a presumed victim of the natural disaster has been found. Members of the Military Emergency Unit discovered him in the garden of Casa Gris, a well-known house in Paiporta.
The authorities are still in the process of identifying the body. It is likely that it is a 59-year-old man who was reported missing, living in a hut next to the Poyo ravine. The ravine overflowed on October 29 due to the bad weather.
Paiporta is the most affected village with almost 50 fatalities. Currently, there are three missing persons: a 38-year-old woman from Cheste, who was taken by the water in a car along with her mother (whose body has already been found), a 64-year-old man who was swept away by the current from a parking lot in Monserrat, and a 56-year-old man from Pedralba, who went missing with his daughter. Her body has been found.
Today, family members of victims dismantled in front of the regional parliament of Valencia, in white overalls stained with mud. They carried boxes with 80,000 signatures and texts on them saying: 'I lost my father' and 'I lost my sister and my 4-year-old niece'. They claim that they have not yet received any assistance from the authorities and demand that it arrives quickly. They also call for an investigation commission. 'We want justice and we want to know how this could have happened,' they said in an emotional appeal.
