An American man who was arrested earlier this month at former President Donald Trump's golf course with a rifle, reportedly wrote a note confirming that it was an assassination attempt on Trump. 'But I failed,' the note said, which also called for others to kill the Republican presidential candidate. 'It's up to you to finish it now.'

A witness told prosecutors that the suspect, 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh, had delivered a box of items to his house several months ago. The box contained 'ammunition, a metal pipe, construction materials, tools, four phones, and several letters.'

After Routh was arrested at the golf course, the witness decided to open one of the letters addressed to 'The World.' According to prosecutors, it contained a confession that he was planning to kill Trump.

Routh has only been charged with illegal possession of a weapon so far.
