paris - In the French rape trial involving Gisèle Pelicot, an investigation has been launched into six new suspects, including the youngest suspect.

An investigation has been started into six new suspects in the French rape trial involving Gisèle Pelicot, one of whom is the youngest suspect, Joan K., aged 26. He has been in custody since 2021 in connection with the case. Born in French Guiana, Joan moved to France at the age of 16 to live with his brother. Initially working for his brother, he later joined the military. Joan was expelled from the military when he ended up in prison due to the rape case. The youngest accused in the trial visited the Pelicot couple's house twice. Interestingly, his former partner was on the verge of giving birth during one of those visits in November 2019.

Joan K. had a relationship with a woman he met online. Their relationship was marked by numerous conflicts and extramarital affairs on both sides, according to personality researcher Julien Del Volta. At the time of their separation, Joan's partner was pregnant. He missed the birth of his own daughter as he visited the Pelicot house that same night to sexually abuse Gisèle. Investigators describe Joan as 'depressed' and expect him to confess by the end of the week.

This week, the court is also examining the charges against Andy R., 37, Hugues M., 39, Husamettin D., 43, Mathieu D., 62, and Fabien S., 39, all of whom have visited the Pelicot house in Mazan at some point.

Dominique Pelicot, the main suspect who drugged his wife for ten years and allowed her to be raped by dozens of strangers recruited online, will not speak today. Later this week, he will face the involved suspects in the criminal court of Vaucluse in Avignon.

This morning, the session opened in a much smaller courtroom than usual. Presiding judge Roger Arata had exempted many of the suspects and their lawyers from attending the sessions, as they were not directly related to them.

Gisèle Pelicot, accompanied by her son David, was present at the trial. She arrived in the courtroom to thunderous applause from the audience. The public turned out in large numbers again to follow the proceedings in the adjacent viewing room.
