Former U.S. President Donald Trump has responded to the controversy over jokes made by a comedian at a campaign rally. Speaking to Fox News, Trump stated, “I have no idea who he is. I've never seen him. Never heard of him and I have no interest in that.”
According to American media, this is the first time Trump has addressed the incident involving comedian Tony Hinchcliffe. Hinchcliffe referred to Puerto Rico as a “island of trash,” sparking criticism including from Trump's own party. Trump defended himself by stating that comedians are not thoroughly vetted before performing. He criticized his detractors for trying to make a “big deal” out of something unrelated to him or his party.
American voters will head to the polls in less than a week to choose their next president: Trump or Democrat Kamala Harris. Polls are predicting a close race in key states.
