Three dead after GPS steers car onto unfinished bridge in India
faridpur - Three occupants of a car lost their lives in India after their navigation system directed them to a bridge that was still under construction.
Three individuals traveling in a car tragically lost their lives in India when their GPS navigation system led them onto a bridge that was not yet completed, causing them to plummet to their deaths. The bridge, located between Faridpur and Dataganj spanning the Ramganga River, lacked any warning signs indicating ongoing construction, resulting in the fatal accident. The victims, who were returning from a wedding ceremony at the time, remained undiscovered until the following day.
A family member of one of the deceased called for the officials responsible to be held accountable for their severe negligence in failing to secure the bridge. The absence of necessary safety measures, such as barriers, will be thoroughly investigated to determine why precautions were not in place. As a consequence, four engineers have been apprehended in connection with the incident.
Following the tragedy, local authorities have been instructed to conduct a comprehensive inspection of all roads and bridges in the region to ensure proper signage is in place. Initial findings from the investigation suggest that the vehicle was equipped with an outdated GPS system.
