pyongyang - North Korea launched at least seven missiles on Tuesday, defying United Nations resolutions. The ballistic missiles reached an altitude of 100 kilometers and traveled 400 kilometers, according to the Japanese Ministry of Defense. The projectiles likely landed in the Sea of Japan east of North Korea.
North Korea is not allowed to launch or test ballistic missiles of any range according to United Nations resolutions, but the country continues to do so. Last week, Pyongyang fired a missile that reportedly reached an altitude of 7000 kilometers, setting a new record for flight duration at an hour and 26 minutes, as reported by Seoul and Tokyo.
Analysts suggest that with the missile launches just before the start of the presidential elections in the United States, the dictatorship aims to draw attention from Washington.
