An elephant attacked and trampled a tourist to death in Kruger Park, South Africa. The victim did not survive the incident.
Kruger Park, spanning 20,000 square kilometers, is the largest national park in South Africa. Tourists are not allowed to leave their vehicles except in designated fenced areas or picnic zones.
The exact circumstances of the accident are currently under investigation. Elephant attacks are not uncommon in the park. In 2021, a suspected poacher was killed by elephants, and in neighboring Zimbabwe, fifty people were killed and 85 injured by wild animals, predominantly elephants, in 2023.
