Decline in Sexual Activities Among Japanese High School Students Leads to Increase in Mortality Rate
japan - Recent research shows a decreasing trend in sexual activities among Japanese high school students, with more deaths than births recorded in 2023.
A recent study has revealed that high school students in Japan are engaging in sexual activities at a later age, with a 3.5% decrease in the number of students having had sex, now at 12%. For the fifteenth consecutive year, students are delaying their first kiss, leading to a higher average age for sexual encounters. This trend poses a significant issue for Japan as the number of deaths surpasses the number of births.
The study attributes this decline in sexual activities to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in reduced social interactions among youth. With a stronger inclination to stay at home, physical intimacy has decreased, reflected in the declining birth rates. Japan's birth rate in 2023 hit a record low at 730,000 births, while 1.58 million deaths were recorded, bringing the population to nearly 125 million. Despite these figures, the overall population on the island remains relatively stable.
