kathmandu - The death toll from heavy floods and landslides in Nepal has risen to at least 101, with 64 people still missing. Authorities held an emergency meeting to coordinate rescue and relief efforts as the country faces continued bad weather.

The death toll from heavy floods and landslides in Nepal has risen to at least 101, with 64 people still missing, according to a police spokesman. The floods in the capital Kathmandu and other areas were caused by heavy monsoon rains.

Authorities held an emergency meeting on Saturday to assess the severity of the situation, coordinate rescue and relief efforts, and intensify search operations. The forecast predicts continued bad weather in the coming days. The heavy rain, unusually late in the season, began on Thursday.

In addition to the loss of lives and missing individuals, the infrastructure in many areas has been severely damaged. Air traffic was largely suspended, and road transport was disrupted. Thousands of homes are submerged under water.
