england - British government restricts conversations in Chinese electric cars used by Defense officials for security concerns.
Security Concerns Over Chinese Electric Cars
The British government's decision to purchase affordable Chinese electric cars for Defense purposes has raised concerns over potential security risks.
With 745 electric cars and 1414 hybrids in use, a significant number of these vehicles are of Chinese origin. This poses a risk as conversations could be eavesdropped, and onboard cameras could compromise national security by revealing the routes taken by the vehicles.
A memo has been issued, restricting conversations to non-sensitive topics only, to mitigate the potential risks.
Despite inquiries, Chinese automakers BYD and MG declined to comment on the matter.
