paris - Arrest warrants have been issued on both a European level and via Interpol for the parents who fled with their premature baby Santiago, as announced by the French Public Prosecutor's Office.

Santiago was born prematurely on October 6th. His parents, a 23-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman with a criminal record, took him from the hospital in Aulnay-sous-Bois near Paris on Monday while he still requires special care. The parents' car was later found near the Belgian city of Charleroi, but the trio remains missing. Concerns are growing for the baby's life.

In France, several people from the parents' circle have been arrested in connection to the incident. On Friday, a minor and an adult man were charged with kidnapping a minor under 15 years of age as part of an organized group. According to prosecutors, they admitted to accompanying the couple and the child as they fled to Belgium, only to return to France overnight. A woman is facing charges for failure to report a crime.
