luxembourg - Animal activists caused a commotion during a tour of the Pope through the city of Luxembourg. A woman rushed towards the white Pope's vehicle and threw herself on the ground. The protest is aimed at blessing bullfighting.
Security forces quickly arrived to remove the woman. She was holding a poster that read 'bullfighting is a sin'. According to Luxemburger Wort, the police have arrested three women, believed to be members of the radical animal rights group Peta.
The pontiff has his own security detail, including soldiers from the Swiss Guard. The Pope is in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg for a lightning visit. He will fly to Belgium Thursday evening, where he will stay until Sunday. The agenda includes a visit to the jubilant Catholic University of Leuven, a meeting with abuse victims, and a mass at the King Baudouin Stadium.
