Zuckerberg reveals pressure from Biden administration on COVID-19 vaccine content
united states - Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of social media platforms owner Meta, disclosed that the Biden administration pressured them for censorship regarding COVID-19 vaccine content.
Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, the owner of social media platforms Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, stated that the Biden administration pressured them for censorship during the pandemic, claiming they tried to censor anti-vaccine content.
Zuckerberg made the statement during a podcast, recalling the efforts made for the vaccine campaign during the COVID-19 period and alleging that the Biden administration attempted to censor anti-vaccine content.
"People from the Biden administration were calling our team, yelling, screaming, and cursing," Zuckerberg said.
Although there are no recordings of these phone calls, Zuckerberg mentioned that there are similar emails, stating that they were pressured heavily to remove content that was true and reflective of reality. They wanted us to remove posts that mention side effects of vaccines," he said.
Zuckerberg emphasized that they clearly stated they would not do that, and after Biden's remarks pointing at Meta as "These are killing people," the company came under fire from many government agencies.
