Woman Who Comforted Spanish Queen Reveals the Truth Behind Viral Photo
spain - A woman named Alicia, who was seen comforting Queen Letizia of Spain in a viral photo, has come forward to reveal what she actually said to the queen amidst a chaotic situation.
Amid a furious crowd throwing mud, bottles, and sticks at King Felipe of Spain and shouting 'murderer' at him, Queen Letizia found herself separated from him in the tumult. She became emotional and started crying, at which point a woman approached her, seemingly to comfort her.
The woman was Alicia, according to Spanish news site Las Provincias. She clarified that she wasn't there to comfort Queen Letizia, but to confront her. 'People from Italy, Romania... have been calling me from all over the world to say that I was trying to comfort the queen, but that's not true,' she said. 'I told the queen that she hadn't seen anything yet. That she needed to go to the city center to witness the devastation. That this could have been prevented.'
Alicia recalled that the queen was so distraught that she could only repeat one thing. 'I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry,' she kept saying while shaking her head,' Alicia recounted.
Although Alicia doesn't live in the heavily affected Paiporta, she visits the area almost every day. Her son attends a soccer school there. 'His life may have been saved because the school had decided to cancel training due to a red alert for heavy rain,' Alicia said. The sports center was completely destroyed.
