Woman sentenced to life in prison after fatal game of hide and seek: partner suffocates in suitcase
orlando - Sarah Boone has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of her partner Jorge Torres after a deadly game of hide and seek turned tragic.
Boone claimed she was a victim of domestic violence and acted in self-defense. During the trial, a different picture of the crime emerged. On February 23, 2020, Boone was arrested on suspicion of murder. She told officers that they had been drinking and playing hide and seek when she thought it would be funny for Torres, who weighed only 47 kilograms, to climb into a suitcase.
After closing the suitcase, Boone went to sleep, assuming Torres could free himself. The next morning, she found him unresponsive in the suitcase. Investigators found videos on Boone's phone of Torres screaming for help from inside the suitcase, saying he couldn't breathe. The prosecutor revealed that Boone left him in the suitcase to intimidate him and then struck him with a baseball bat.
Boone mocked him while he cried for help in the video. The jury deliberated for only 90 minutes before sentencing Boone to life in prison.
