poulsbo - A woman had to flee her home in the state of Washington after about a hundred raccoons invaded. They became increasingly aggressive, scratching her house and surrounding her day and night.

The raccoon invasion took place in the city of Poulsbo, where the woman had started feeding a raccoon family decades ago. Up until about six weeks ago, she did this without any issues. Then, the number of raccoons suddenly grew from a handful to about a hundred.

"She said that those raccoons became increasingly aggressive, asking for food more and more, and following her day and night," said police spokesman Kevin McCarty. The animals scratched at the outside of the house and doors. "When she parked her car, they scratched at the car and surrounded her as she walked from her front door to her car, or just stepped outside."

Although the woman did not break any laws by feeding the raccoons, the police believe that she is partly to blame for the invasion. "This is an annoying problem that she has caused herself and needs to deal with," McCarty stated. The woman has been advised to consult pest controllers to capture and remove the raccoons.
