washington - The White House reports a substantial decrease in illegal immigration from Mexico to the US.
Decrease in Illegal Immigration
The White House acknowledges a significant drop in illegal immigration from Mexico to the US, with 29,000 attempted illegal crossings and nearly 32,350 apprehensions at border checkpoints. This marks a 36% decrease from December statistics. In January, during President Joe Biden's administration (2021-2025), an average of 141,710 illegal border crossings were recorded along the Mexico border.
In December 2023, there was a peak with a quarter million apprehensions related to illegal entry into the US at the Mexican border.
President Donald Trump has made stemming the flow of migrants one of his top priorities. His strong stance on illegal immigration played a significant role in the election campaign and his re-election in November. He began his second term as president on January 20, having previously served from 2017 to 2021.
