White House Releases Statement Regarding 'Mysterious Drones' Above the US
washington - The White House has made a statement regarding the mysterious drones spotted in the northeastern US, clarifying that many of them are manned aircraft legally flying in the airspace.
According to the White House, the mysterious drones spotted above the northeast of the US are actually manned aircraft legally flying in the area. Kirby reiterated on Thursday that there is currently no evidence that the large drones, especially in New Jersey, pose a danger to public or national security. He emphasized that no drones have been spotted in restricted airspace, and there is no evidence of malicious activity or intent uncovered so far.
The spokesperson also reiterated during a press briefing at the White House that there is no evidence linking the drones to foreign connections. The coast guard has confirmed that there is no evidence of foreign involvement with vessels after a Republican congressman claimed that an Iranian mothership off the American coast was launching the drones.
The White House is taking the matter seriously as unmanned aircraft can pose a risk, and the investigation is still in its early stages. Kirby stated that the FBI, Department of Homeland Security, and law enforcement agencies at both local and state levels are investigating the issue with 'countless detection methods to better understand their origin.'
'With the help of highly advanced electronic detection technologies provided by federal authorities, we have not been able to confirm any reported visual sightings,' Kirby said. 'On the contrary, after reviewing available footage, it appears that many of the reported sightings are actually manned aircraft being legally operated.'
The government does not have its own footage, and Kirby had to admit that it is still not certain what the sightings are. At the moment, despite calls from politicians from both parties, military intervention such as shooting down the aircraft or imposing a drone flight ban is not on the table. Kirby did acknowledge that the drone incident exposes shortcomings in authorities and calls on Congress to approve crucial legislation that would empower existing 'anti-drone authorities' to better identify and combat potential threats.
'We understand that people are concerned. We understand that they have questions. We have questions too, and we are working hard to get answers,' Kirby concluded.
