UN Investigator Reveals Assad Regime Destroyed Evidence of Crimes
Robert Petit, head of the UN's International, Impartial, and Independent Mechanism for Syria, stated that the Assad regime destroyed evidence of crimes before its downfall. However, there is still a significant amount of evidence available. Petit mentioned that many pieces of evidence, such as burned documents and shattered hard drives, were seen, indicating an attempt to destroy most of the evidence. Petit also expressed difficulties in accessing areas where evidence of crimes during the Assad era is located, stressing the need for permission from the interim Damascus government.
