Ukraine and UK Sign 100-Year Partnership Agreement
Ukraine and UK have officially signed a landmark partnership agreement named '100-Year Partnership' to enhance cooperation in defense, economy, and other key areas.
The agreement entails the UK providing a minimum of $3.6 billion in military aid to Ukraine annually. It also includes investments in drone and artillery systems production in Ukraine by the UK.
Moreover, provisions for enhancing maritime security in the Baltic, Black, and Azov seas through partnership and joint naval fleets have been established.
The agreement aims to deepen collaboration in defense, non-defense, and cultural spheres, bringing together experts in science and technology, increasing partnerships in health, agriculture, space, drones, and strengthening intergenerational relations through student programs.
President Zelenskiy emphasized the significance of the agreement, stating that it marks a historical day and signifies a new level of relations with the UK. He highlighted the extensive support received by the Ukrainian army last year, with approximately $100 billion allocated, a significant portion contributed by the US and Europe.
Zelenskiy also discussed the latest developments in the Russia-Ukraine war, mentioning the weakened position of the Russian forces in various front lines. He expressed the need for substantial security guarantees to end the conflict and mentioned ongoing discussions regarding the 'French initiative' for deploying a foreign military contingent, involving talks with Macron, Poland, Baltic states, and the UK.
